Transforming Digital Presence at Sana Lake Recovery Center
How a Comprehensive Audit and Strategic Overhaul Boosted Engagement and Reduced Bounce Rates
Sana Lake Recovery Center helps people break free from addiction — and stay free. Their mission is rooted in connection, compassion, and clinical excellence. It’s not just about getting clean. It’s about building a life worth staying sober for.
But when I landed on their website, it didn’t reflect any of that. It looked more like a liability waiver than a place of healing.
Cold. Jargon-filled. Impossible to navigate.
Exactly the opposite of what someone in crisis needs.
No story. No strategy. No soul.
It wasn’t just failing — it was actively getting in the way.
So we tore it down. Rebuilt the foundation.
And told the story their mission deserves.

When Sana Lake faced critical digital challenges—including an alarming 90% bounce rate, a fragmented user journey, and ineffective marketing spend—a bold, data-driven approach was necessary.
I led a full-scale digital transformation, starting with a deep brand audit to identify gaps in messaging, user experience, and brand identity. This revealed critical areas for improvement, including website performance, conversion funnels, email marketing, and social media strategy.
They were facing::
Pages that read like whitepapers, not human conversations
Broken user experience with no call-to-action flow
Longform content with zero emotional connection
A site that didn’t just confuse people — it drove them away
Email campaigns no one opened — or remembered
Disjointed messaging across teams and channels
Social strategy that lacked engagement or growth
Vendor advice stuck in 2010 (more content = more traffic)
External creative support overcharging and underdelivering
Rewrote Every Page with a Clarity-First Framework
We stripped out the filler and rebuilt every page with human-first messaging — clear, concise, and deeply aligned with what people in recovery (and their families) actually need to see and feel.
Simplified the Site Structure and Navigation
Re-architected the entire site to match how users search, decide, and seek support — with mobile-first paths, intuitive menus, and emotional cues guiding every click.
Redesigned the Email Experience
No more generic, monotone email messaging. I built thoughtful email journeys that offered support, trust, and actionable next steps — boosting both engagement and conversions.
Audited and Elevated the Social Media Strategy
Analyzed content performance, voice, and timing. Then delivered recommendations to boost reach, relevance, and authentic community connection.
Unified the Brand Across All Touchpoints
Established a clear, consistent narrative that bridged the gap between marketing, admissions, and leadership — so every team told the same powerful story.
Vetted External Vendors and Maximized ROI
Dug deep into invoices and contracts to stop overcharges, recover budget, and ensure every dollar spent moved the mission forward. Realigned PR and vendor strategy to replace outdated partners with results-driven collaborators aligned to modern user behavior.

Midway through the rewrite, I imagined a mom landing on the site at 11PM, searching for help for her son. The old site made her work for every answer. The new one walked her straight to what she needed.
That’s when I realized just how much clarity and compassion could change someone’s experience — and possibly, their decision.
We didn’t just fix a site. We removed friction from a life-changing decision.
Clarity replaced confusion. Calm replaced overwhelm. Strategy replaced fluff.
Bounce rate dropped by over 50%
Major increase in engagement across channels
Higher trust, better lead flow and generation
Marketing spend reallocated for stronger ROI
